Emergency crews transported a woman to Chandler Regional Hospital Wednesday afternoon after two cars collided in the intersection of Cobblestone Farms Drive and State Route 347, police said.
Maricopa Police Department Spokesman Ricardo Alvarado said the woman was a passenger inside a maroon Honda heading southbound on SR 347. Around 2 p.m., a silver Nissan vehicle attempted to turn left onto Cobblestone Farms Drive and struck the Honda as it drove through the intersection.
“The female passenger (in the Honda) took the brunt of the air bag deployment,” Alvarado said. “(She) was unresponsive, but breathing when the officers arrived on the scene.”
The male driver of the Nissan vehicle involved in the accident received a citation.
“He didn’t sustain any injuries, he refused medical on scene, but was cited for turning in front of the vehicle that was southbound on 347,” Alvarado said.
Restricted northbound and southbound lanes of the 347 slowed traffic as crews worked the scene. MPD cleared the intersection an hour later.
Alvarado did not have an update on the woman’s condition. Maricopa Fire/Medical could not be reached for comment.
