Tea Party to meet on Thursday

Arizona Republican State Chairman Tom Morrissey

The Maricopa Tea Party will hold its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Maricopa Community Church, located at 44977 Hathaway Ave. across from the post office. The guest speaker will be Arizona Republican State Chairman Tom Morrissey, who will address the crowd on the 2012 election. A question and answer session will follow.

The border fence website, www.buildtheborderfence.com, will also be discussed. A regular to the tea party gatherings, State Sen. Steve Smith spoke at the last meeting about state redistricting and border security. Smith sponsored legislation that launched the website that accepts private donations to build a fence along Arizona’s border with Mexico.

Maricopa Tea Party organizer Irene Littleton said the organization is nonpartisan and open to all members of the community. County Supervsor David Snider is slated to speak at the October meeting, she said.

“We want to educate any and all folks that want to know about what's going on in our country and government,” Littleton said.

I think what he meant to say was:

Will the Tea Party members in attendance answer all questions asked, and will be there a cost to attend the meeting and ask questions. I understand some congressional members are now charging fees to attend and ask questions at their town hall style meetings.

Thank you.

I wouldn't go even if they were paying you to attend! The tea party has a very narrow, skewed view of politics and are doing the country more harm than good. Life isn't black or white folks, and their simplistic view is all black.

So you believe that we should be taxed more? That is what TEA stands for btw Taxed Enough Already, in case you did not know that. I am not a tea party member but by making sweeping generalizations are you not seeing the world in black and white?

The tea party is non partisan? That's the biggest LIE I have ever heard, period. They've downgraded our economy, they refuse to listen to any other views, refused to compromise even though our country was founded on that principle. They are terrorists who have held our government at gunpoint and are guilty of treason (metaphorically) They even say if for every extra dollar in taxes was off sett by $10 in cuts, they'd still vote no against increases. So, obviously, they're stupid too.
