The Maricopa boys’ basketball team suffered through an offensive drought in the second half and dropped a 68-55 decision on the road at Casa Grande Tuesday.
Trailing by just three points at the half, the Rams went cold in the second 16 minutes and fell to a strong Cougars’ team. The loss dropped MHS to 8-10.
“Casa Grande is a tough team,” said head coach Andy Branchik. “They have an outstanding point guard, probably one of the best in the state.
“Our kids played a tough, hard game, but we came up short on the offensive end in the second half.”
MHS was paced by Marcus Lowe with 11 points. DeVaughn Elledge added 10 and Nik Webber contributed eight.
The Rams play at home twice to close the week. They entertain Seton Catholic, a team they edged, 64-61, in the final game of the Copa Hoops Holiday Classic, tonight at 7 p.m. Friday they host Santa Cruz Valley, a 69-40 victim of the Rams in December, at 7 p.m.
