MPD is seeking a suspect who drove off with a car from a local auto repair shop. File photo.

Maricopa police responded Monday around 6:30 a.m. to a call of a woman screaming and loud noises coming from KARS Auto Shop at 19536 N. John Wayne Parkway.

Responding MPD units observed a vehicle leaving the business and attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle continued eastbound on Honeycutt Road at a high rate of speed.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver failed to stop and continued into the Gila River Indian Community. The Gila River Police Department was notified.

Investigating officers were able to contact the registered owner of the fleeing vehicle who advised the vehicle was left at KARS Auto Shop for repairs. Follow up at the auto shop led to the discovery of damage to the auto shop in addition to the theft of the vehicle.

MPD is currently investigating this incident and seeking the driver of the fleeing vehicle. If you have information regarding this incident, please contact MPD at 520-316-6800 or the Silent Witness Hotline at 520-316-6900.
