The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office is trying to identify the Hispanic man a deputy shot and killed early Monday morning after he made an aggressive move toward a deputy with a knife.

The man refused to back down in a three-hour standoff with PCSO and the Maricopa Police Department  at the Great Wall Chinese Cuisine restaurant near Bashas’.

The man was carrying no identification or papers and no one has indentified him yet, said Elias Johnson, PCSO public information officer.

The suspect appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol and may have been suicidal.

Anyone who thinks they may know his identity or has information that could be helpful to authorities should call PCSO at 520-866-5111.

I'd like to see an investigation of the shooting. Use of deadly force here, was it really the only alternative?

He was hit with bean bag rounds fired from a 12 ga. shotgun three times before lethal force was finally used.
