The number of building permits for single-family homes increased to 27 in September, six more than the previous month, according to city records.

September’s increase comes after a slight summer lull.

In January, seven permits were issued but that number increased each month until May, when 42 permits were taken out.

In June, however, 32 permits were issued, which dropped to 23 permits in July and 21 in August.

This year, the city is averaging 25.4 permits per month. Last year, it averaged 10 permits per month.
