Bad weather prompting construction delays interrupted plans for a “soft opening” right before Christmas of the new Aaron’s rent-to-own store at 44550 W. Edison Road, just off John Wayne Parkway.
The store was set to open no later than Dec. 22 with most of its inventory in place but, Mike Carroll, regional manager for the national chain, said heavy rain set the opening date back.
“We had to wait for the parking lot to dry before we could finish the grading,” he said. “The rest of the construction was on time, right down to the wire.”
The delay also waylaid the permitting process, although Carroll said, “the inspectors were extremely helpful.”
“They finalized everything once construction was completed and even came back the day after Christmas for final inspections,” Carroll said.
A two-day grand opening event is tentatively scheduled for Feb. 1 and 2, though those dates need to be confirmed by the corporate office, he said.“Typically, there are appearances from our mascot Lucky Dog, exciting giveaways (televisions, stereos, cameras, etc.) and (7-inch) Lucky Dogs to every child who comes in with their parents,” Carroll said.
Carroll said the store has had a good start.
