The 6th annual Our Lady of Grace Parish Festival and Carnival scheduled for this weekend has been postponed a week for “safety reasons.”

“Right now we’re under water,” said parish secretary and event organizer Patti Coutre. “We want everyone to have a wonderful experience, and next weekend’s weather will be much more conducive to our guests being safe and having a good time.”

The carnival started Friday as scheduled, but, according to the Boy Scouts who camped at the site overnight, it has been raining nonstop since 1 a.m., flooding the parking lot and forcing the postponement of the remainder of the event.

Pre-purchased tickets will be honored next weekend, and discounted all-day carnival tickets will be available for $18 at the church office until noon next Friday.

The hours will be the same: 4 to 10:30 p.m. Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.

The church is at 45295 W. Honeycutt Ave., across from Maricopa High School.
