Maricopa shoppers will soon have a new option for picking up groceries, toiletry items and other essential household needs.
An 11,600-square-foot 99¢ Only Stores taking shape near John Wayne Parkway and Edison Road – next to Aaron’s and Big O Tires – is scheduled to open in October.
The store will include a perishable-foods section with milk, eggs, fresh vegetables and fruits along with frozen foods. Like other 99¢ Only Stores, customers can get their hands on general toiletry items as well as party supplies.
Sarah Correa, public relations and marketing coordinator for the business, said the Maricopa location is one of several stores currently being built in Arizona. Other openings will take place in Yuma, Laveen and Kingman.
There are 29 stores in Arizona. By the time the Maricopa location opens its doors, it will be store No. 33 in the state.
Correa said the number of new stores for the business, which has locations in California, Nevada and Texas, is picking up.
“It’s good news for us and good for our customers,” she said. The business buys directly from major product manufacturers such as Frito Lay, General Mills, Johnson & Johnson, Kraft, Kellogg’s, Wrigley and others, according to its website.
Correa said very few items are more than 99 cents. For example a dozen eggs would be 99 cents, but two dozen would cost more.
