The National Weather Service has issued a dust storm warning and two advisories for northwest and north central Pinal County.

A dust storm warning is in effect until 6 p.m. today with a wind advisory in effect until 8 p.m. In addition, a blowing dust advisory is in effect from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Winds are expected to reach between 25 and 35 miles per hour with gusts up to 45 miles per hour, according to NWS. With blowing dust, visibility could drop to a quarter mile and could be hazardous for drivers.

Drivers who encounter strong winds and blowing dust should pull off the road, put the vehicle in park and turn their lights off. They should also keep their foot off the brake pedal.

A wind advisory means wind speeds between 30 and 40 miles per hour are expected and wind gusts up between 40 and 58 miles per hour.
