Benefit for Chandler police detective is Wednesday

A barbecue event will be held Wednesday to benefit the family of Sean McKenzie, a 41-year-old Chandler Police Department detective who was killed March 15 in a motorcycle crash on State Route 347.

McKenzie was off-duty when he was killed.

The barbecue will be in Chandler at the Chandler Police Department, 250 E. Chicago St. It will run 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 4 to 8 p.m.

The event will include a raffle and a bounce house for kids as well as hot dogs and hamburgers. To make a donation of food, soft drinks or other items, call 602-628-2666.

The event will benefit McKenzie’s children – his daughter Taylor, 15, and his son Jace, 10.

The Chandler Law Enforcement Association is accepting donations. They can be sent to P.O. Box 238, Chandler, AZ 85225.
