Maricopans can walk, run, roll or stroll at the First Annual Maricopa Family Fun Run on Sunday, April 26. Sponsored by the Maricopa High School Key Club, the Maricopa Kiwanis and the city’s Community Services Department, the event will run in conjunction with this year’s Maricopa Salsa Festival Presented by 85239.com. Grab your sneakers, get the kids and participate in this event with proceeds going to the Maricopa Education Foundation to ‘give education a hand.' “The goal of this fun run is to get families active and spending time together. We want to host something for the community and show that we can do it,” said MHS Key Club President Meardy Kong. “All we ask is support from everybody–and come join us for a fun morning.” The first 150 participants are guaranteed a t-shirt, and all participants receive admission to the post party, which will feature live music, sack races, bounce houses, free face painting, water balloon fights and refreshments. Key Club will have a booth set up at the Salsa Festival for any last minute questions and registration. Event schedule:
· 6:30 -7:30 a.m.- Registration and T-shirt/number pick-up for individual run (south side of park)
· 7:30 - 8:30 a.m.-Start of 5K individual run
· 7:30 – 8:30 a.m.- Registration and T-shirt/number pick-up for family run
· 8:30 a.m.- Start of family fun run
· 9:00- 11:30 a.m.- Post Party Cost: $10 per individual & $20 per family T-shirt and race number pick up:
· Pre-Registered Runners may pick up T-shirt & number ahead of time at the Salsa Festival from 5-9 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, at Pacana Park
· Day-of-Event Registrants may pick up T-shirt and walk number between 6:30- 7:30 a.m. the morning of the walk at the start line at the big tent. (T-shirts will not be mailed.)
