NEWS & EDITORIAL

Jim Williams
Editor

Jim@InMaricopa.com
Jim Williams brings more than 30 years of journalistic experience to his position as editor at InMaricopa.com.

Williams is a 1982 graduate of Missouri State University-Springfield, Mo. Shortly after graduation, he relocated to Arizona. His journalistic leanings began quite early; as an eighth grader, he worked as a ‘stringer’ for his hometown newspaper, covering junior high sports.

Since, Williams has worked steadily as a professional journalist and editor. He’s enjoyed stints as a sports editor for a weekly newspaper, as editor of a children’s publication, and as managing editor in corporate publications for the world’s largest self-moving company, Phoenix-based U-Haul International.

Before joining the InMarciopa family, Williams worked 10 years as an editor with The Arizona Republic.

As family-oriented as they build them, Williams is the proud father of three children: a boy and two girls, ages 6, 4 and 2, respectively. His wife, Jennifer, works in a large downtown hospital as a trauma nurse. Williams says he is an avid follower of all things sports, that is, when he’s not watching required programming such as Dora The Explorer and Backyardigans.  He asks that you forgive the Midwest drawl; he can’t seem to shake it.

Joyce Hollis
Joyce@InMaricopa.com
Joyce Hollis is a native Nebraskan who moved to Arizona in 1972.  She spent 30 years as a high school and community college English instructor, specializing in college preparatory composition and literature.  She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Nebraska and two Masters’ degrees, in both elementary and secondary curriculum and instruction, from Northern Arizona University.

Married with two grown sons, she has a granddaughter and a grandson.  In addition to spoiling the grandchildren, Joyce enjoys reading, shopping, needlepoint and knitting for family members as well as the local Pregnancy Care Center.

Watching college football is a favorite pastime, although she found it more entertaining when the Cornhuskers won every game.  She also loves to travel and considers China and Thailand two of her favorite places, next to Great Britain.

Joyce and her husband, Ron, moved to Maricopa from Lake Havasu City in 2004.  She is a member of the Founder's Day committee, the Public Safety Advisory Committee, the Traffic Task Force, Friends of the Library, the downtown redevelopment committee (Destination Maricopa) and chairs the M.A.S.H. Anti-Substance Abuse Coalition.

Michael Rich
Journalist
Michael@InMaricopa.com
Michael K. Rich is a 2008 graduate of the University of Arizona School of Journalism.  While at the university Michael completed internships at Fox 10 News in Phoenix, the Arizona Daily Star and worked as both an editor and reporter for the Mesa Legend. However, his crowning achievement came during the spring semester of the 2007 school year when he was chosen to be a Don Bolles Fellow. The Bolles fellowship is a program in which a selected student spends the entire semester covering the Arizona State legislature.

Despite his accomplishments, the one thing Michael values most is his family. Michael was married July 4, 2006, to his soul mate Rachael. Michael said without the loving support of his wife he would not be able to accomplish anything. However, the greatest gift Michael ever received was becoming a father. On Aug. 19, 2007, Michaels's son Jason was born. Watching a child grow before his eyes and the unconditional love he feels for his son are two things he would not trade for anything. One day he would like to have six more children.

Michael has aspirations to become a political reporter. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family and watching the Arizona Cardinals and the Phoenix Suns break his heart.
