Public turns out for Veteran's Day celebration

The band was playing, the parade was festive, and emotions ran high as nearly 1,000 people turned out for Legacy Traditional School's first-ever Veteran’s Day celebration.

People began to pour into the school’s new campus at 9 a.m., to enjoy a free pancake and sausage breakfast cooked up by Legacy management and staff and hear the Maricopa High School band play. During the hour-long breakfast, the school, along with local Veterans’ groups, held a flag-raising ceremony.

Following the flag raising, the large crowd lined both sides of the school’s parking lot for a Veteran’s Day parade, which was led by a Maricopa Fire truck and more than 100 kids riding bikes and trikes decorated in patriotic colors. The parade also featured a dance team from Maricopa Dance Academy.

At the conclusion of the parade, the public gathered on the campus soccer field to hear speeches and songs. Below are the video highlights.
