Legacy Traditional School hosts
A cast of over 100 Legacy Traditional School students will be taking to the stage this week as Legacy hosts a fun-filled musical event. The show features several solos, duets and, of course, a mass of Oompa-Loompas who will be singing and dancing.
“'Willy Wonka, Jr.' is an imagination-filled musical revue,” Melanie Johnston, Legacy music teacher, said. “We have been working very hard for the last two months on this show. It will be a great show that will be fun for the whole family.”
The junior version of this play takes most of its material from the original Willy Wonka film, starring Gene Wilder. The audience will be pleased to see most of the main characters from the film. Charlie and his poverty stricken family comprise the first half of play. Willy Wonka’s tour with the bratty kids and their ill-mannered parents comprise the remaining half. The best part of the show is watching each obnoxious child get their comeuppance.
Performances will be April 29 at 6:30 p.m. and April 30 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Legacy Traditional School, 17760 N. Regent Dr. near Porter Rd and Bowlin Rd. Tickets are $3 in advance or $5 at the door.
Legacy Traditional School is a tuition free, highly excelling charter school that offers a back to basics curriculum and an accelerated pace of study. Open enrollment for K-6 grades is currently taking place. There are a select number of openings available for the 2011-2012 school year.
