Beginning May 1, Amtrak will begin operating a Thruway bus connecting service in Maricopa for passengers traveling on the Sunset Limited/Texas Eagle service wanting to travel to Tempe and Phoenix.

Stagecoach Express will operate the shuttle service on the schedule days the Sunset Limited operates through Maricopa. The stops include Terminal 2 at Sky Harbor Airport.

Thruway stops include: 

Tempe – 

• Macayo’s Depot Cantina, 300 S. Ash Ave.

 

Phoenix –

• Phoenix (Metro Center Transit Station), 9617 N. Metro Parkway West

• Phoenix Airport, 3400 E. Sky Harbor Blvd., Terminal 2 – Outside Door 8 – Intercity Shuttle Island (shuttle staff available 9 a.m.–11 p.m.)          

The Sunset Limited train arrives in Maricopa at 8:52 p.m. on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, and departs at 9:02 p.m. It arrives at 5:30 a.m. on Monday, Thursday and Saturday and departs at 5:40 a.m.

The Thruway shuttle bus arrives at in Maricopa at 8 p.m. on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, and departs at 9:15 p.m. The bus arrives at 4:45 a.m. on Monday, Thursday and Saturday and departs at 5:45 a.m.

The shuttle route starts at Phoenix Metro Center. On Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, it leaves Sky Harbor at 7 p.m. and Macayo’s Depot at 7:15 p.m. After it drops off and picks up passengers in Maricopa, it arrives back at Macayo’s Depot at 10 p.m., at Sky Harbor at 10:15 p.m. and at the Metro Center at 10:45 p.m.

On Monday, Thursday and Saturday, the bus leaves the Metro Center at 3:15 a.m., Sky Harbor at 3:45 a.m. and Macayo’s at 4 a.m. After the rendezvous in Maricopa, it stops in Tempe at 6:30 a.m. and Sky Harbor at 6:45 a.m. before arriving back and Metro Center at 7:15 a.m.
