Former Secretary of State Ken Bennett is scheduled to speak at the Maricopa Republican Club meeting this month, along with Dr. Kelli Ward.

Maricopa Republican Club will have its monthly meeting Jan. 28 at the Clubhouse in the Villages of Rancho El Dorado. Scheduled speakers are U.S. Senate candidate Dr. Kelli Ward and U.S. Congressional candidate Ken Bennett.

Ward was elected to the Arizona Senate in 2012, representing Legislature District 5. Ward is running in the 2016 Primary election against current U.S. Sen. John McCain.

“Arizonans across the state have had enough of the Washington, D.C status quo,” she said. “It is time for new conservative leadership.”

In current polls, Ward is leading McCain by up to 9 percent. This may be a chance for Maricopa to meet the next U.S. senator for Arizona.

Bennett has been in Arizona politics for many years. He was elected to the Prescott City Council in 1985 and served as mayor pro tem in 1988. In 1998 he was elected to the Arizona Senate, where he served four two-year terms.

In 2009, Ken Bennett was elected as the Secretary of State and was re-elected by the voters in the 2010 election.

Bennett is running for U.S. Congress for District 1in the 2016 election campaign. He lives in the Acacia Crossings subdivision of Maricopa.

“I’m running for Congress to take our country back to the Constitution and conservative principles that made our country great,” Bennett said.

This may be a chance that Maricopa can meet the next U.S. Congress representing CD1.

The doors open at 6:30 p.m. for check-in, and the meeting starts at 7 p.m. For information call Club President Marty Hermanson at 480-510-9800.
