Patchy dust is expected to be prelude to a weekend cooling-off period for Maricopa.

Areas of blowing dust will continue until about 8 p.m. tonight, according to the National Weather Service. Then skies will be mostly clear and the overnight low around 60 degrees. Winds may still gust up to 30 mph.

Friday, there is a 10-percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 a.m. The day is forecast to be mostly sunny with a high near 77. It will also be breezy, with wind from the south at 10-15 mph gusting up to 25 mph. A 30-percent chance of showers returns overnight, when the low is around 56.

Saturday, there is again 10-percent chance of rain before 11 a.m. The high is again anticipated to be around 77, and winds will calm to 5 mph. Saturday night, there is 20-percent chance of showers. Under mostly cloudy skies, the low will be around 58.

For Mother’s Day on Sunday, there is a 20-percent chance of showers before 11 a.m. The high for the day is expected to be near 81 with calm breezes. The overnight low will be around 57 degrees.

Temperatures are expected to start warming up again Monday and reach the high 90s during the week.

Maricopa’s air-quality index is at “moderate,” a step below the best reading, which is “good.”
