Council to eye 1st draft of city seal

Arizona has a great seal for use on state paperwork. Maricopa has merely a logo – the city’s name with a Michigan-style M and the words “Proud History. Prosperous Future.”

What Maricopa wants is a seal.

Tonight, the council will discuss a proposed seal during its work session starting at 6 p.m.

“Back in November, we held a work session to gather input from Council as to what they would like to see included in a city seal,” said Jennifer Brown, assistant to the city manager.

She said the council requested the creation of a seal for use on marketing materials, flags, letterhead, etc.

“Our marketing team, including Ruben Garcia and Anabel Martinez, has taken that input, as well as input from the Executive Team, and created a first draft version for council to review at the work session on Tuesday,” Brown said.

That first draft includes the words “Proud History. Prosperous Future” in a circle design that incorporates a mountainscape leading into a cityscape, a train, a cotton blossom and a child walking with an adult.
