County to Offer Another Round of Flu Vaccinations

25

The Pinal County Division of Public Health announced yesterday that it will be making appointments to provide flu shots beginning the week of December 6 for the following groups:

• Adults ages 65+
• Adults ages 19-64 with underlying chronic medical conditions
• All women who will be pregnant during the flu season
• Residents of nursing homes and long-term care facilities
• Out-of-home caregivers and household contacts of children ages less than 6 months

To receive a flu shot you must schedule an appointment. The Division of Public Health will take appointments on Tuesday, November 30, and Wednesday, December 1, from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Flu immunizations will be scheduled the week of December 6. To schedule an appointment, call (800) 231-8499 extension 7309 or 7303.

All who are scheduled to receive a flu shot must provide a photo ID showing that they are age 65 or older or a physician’s note saying that they are in one of the risk groups for which flu vaccination is recommended. No walk-ins will be accepted and there is no waiting list.

A vaccination fee will apply. Fee information will be available when appointments are scheduled. Medicare and other insurances will not be billed.

The demand for vaccine is anticipated to be greater than the supply. Therefore, it is strongly suggested that all individuals seeking flu shots continue to seek other sources such as doctors’ offices and clinics.
