The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office Critical Accident Team investigated a fatal accident in Maricopa yesterday evening.
At about 8:23 p.m. on Thursday, July 13, a 2005 4-door Dodge Ram Pickup was traveling westbound on Honeycutt Road near Porter Road when it drove through a wash dip. The vehicle then crossed into the eastbound lane, left the roadway and hit a concrete irrigation ditch. The vehicle flipped over, ejecting six people.
The following were found dead at the scene:
Oszaldo Ortiz, 2
Trinidad Rojas, 55
Daniel Rojas-Bencomo, 54
Jesus Antonio-Ruiz, age unknown
Air lifted from the scene were Marco Ruiz, 18, with non-life threatening injuries, and Jesus Ruiz, 28, in critical condition. Both were air lifted to Maricopa County Medical Center. All six people are from the Maricopa area.
Investigators believe speed to be a factor in this case. The investigation is ongoing.
