Fire scorches home in Sorrento

1711

Maricopa Fire crews extinguished a fire at home in the Sorrento subdivision, but not before the house was rendered uninhabitable.

The April 9 blaze apparently began at the rear of the home. When MFD crews arrived, a piece of furniture on the back patio was fully involved and leaning against the house. A neighbor was trying to put out the fire with a garden hose, to little effect.

The fire burned through the drywall into the attic space and was extending into a bedroom.

MFD had the fire under control in 30 minutes and assisted with cleanup to prevent further damage.
