A pair of new adult sports programs are coming to Maricopa this fall. Flag football and soccer join the list of offerings for area residents through the city’s Parks, Recreation and Libraries Department.

“Sports programs are extremely popular in Maricopa,” PRL Director Marty McDonald said. “The City is happy to be offering these two new programs to fulfill the needs of our active community.”

Flag football registration for men’s and coed teams is currently underway and concludes on Friday, Aug. 17. The program is a modified 4-on-4 flag football league that is fast paced, non-contact and focuses on speed and accuracy.

Soccer registration for coed teams begins on Sept. 10. These are full-sided, 11 vs. 11 games that will pit teams against each other in head-to-head format on Sunday afternoons.

The City of Maricopa accepts team registrations only. For those who do not have a team but are interested in playing, contact Sports Coordinator David Aviles to be placed on the free agent list. Teams will be formed from the free agent list.

Participants are asked to register in person at 45145 W. Madison Ave. The fee is $250 and games will be played at Pacana Park.
