After a light morning drizzle turned into steady rain Saturday, water rose quickly in washes, streets and roads. Maricopa was placed under a flash flood warning until 1:15 p.m. and a flash flood watch until 8 p.m.
Santa Rosa wash is closed at all crossings.
The rain became so severe, only two rounds of the Maricopa Mud Run were completed.
Total precipitation today and tonight could amount to about an inch, according to the National Weather Service.
