Fun, family events available for Halloween weekend

Looking for something fun to do for Halloween? With so many options around Maricopa, there is sure to be something for everyone this weekend.

Kids of all ages are invited to Basha’s for an Old-Fashioned Halloween Party, Saturday, October 29, from 10 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Guests can enjoy free Halloween photos by Soma Photography, Halloween cookie decorating, a coloring contest and trick-or-treating. Basha’s is located at the southwest corner of Smith-Enke and Maricopa Roads.

The Thunderbird Fire District is sponsoring a “Night To Howl” event on Saturday, October 29, from noon to 7 p.m., benefiting the Equine Eden Rescue Center. The event will be held at the Thunderbird Farms Community Arena on Ralston Road, north of Papago Road. Attendees can participate in a costume contest for a $2 entry fee. Other games will be available for a $1 entry fee.

The family pet can come along, too. Animals are welcome to participate. Equine Eden will have rescue horses, in costume, on hand for the event. Animal rescue organizations from around the Valley have been invited to attend as well. Take part in a Halloween Carnival at Milton “Paul” Antone Park on Saturday, October 29, from 6 to 9 p.m. For more information, contact Alvin Antone at (520) 568-1753 or Vanessa Soliz at (520) 568-1754. The park is located on Farrell Road, approximately four miles west of Maricopa Road.

The stores at the Fry’s Martketplace Center are set to host a Grand Opening Spooktacular (see related story) on Monday, October 31, from 3 to 7 p.m. Fry’s is located on the east side of Maricopa Road, south of Smith-Enke.

Maricopa Assembly of God is hosting a Harvest Festival, Monday, October 31, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to stop in and enjoy the games and prizes.
