High school’s life skills class needs household items

73

Santa brought you a new toaster oven for Christmas, and you just replaced your old set of pots and pans. If you have household items gathering dust or no longer being used, the Life Skills Class at Maricopa High School can put those items to good use.

The Life Skills class is seeking donations to outfit a temporary instructional classroom. The classroom is designed to assist special needs students with preparation for transitioning into an independent lifestyle.

The skills taught include cleaning, cooking and simple household tasks. The instructors are asking for donations of supplies and equipment, including the following.

pots and pans
mixing bowls
toaster oven
griddle
cutting boards
refrigerator
cooking utensils
dish towels
dish soap
food items or ingredients, such as flour, macaroni and cheese, sugar, pasta, non-perishable items
broom
mop
dustpan
dish rack
sponges
glass cleaner
dishes – serving or eating sets
drinking glasses
placemats and napkins
aprons
toaster

If you can provide any of these items, contact Abby Himlie at [email protected] or call the high school at (520) 568-8100. For additional questions or more information, contact Tom Beckett at (520) 568-6112.
