Wondering what home-based businesses are in Maricopa? Thinking about becoming a local representative for one of them? Interested in getting gifts or gift ideas for the holidays?

Then you should attend the Maricopa Vendor Expo today, Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Pima Butte Elementary School, located on west Rancho El Dorado Parkway.

The event opened yesterday to a good crowd of area residents. Over 60 vendors are displaying their services and products, some from companies and some hand-created, during the two-day show.

Event coordinator Gina Segarra also operates Tastefully Simple, a home-based gourmet food line. “With all the growth in Maricopa, new home-based businesses need exposure, and residents need to know what home-based businesses and services are available to them,” she explained.

“This is also a great opportunity for local people to talk to vendors already in home-based businesses to see what they could earn as representatives,” added Segarra.

A raffle for an IPOD Shuffle is being sponsored by 1st Impressions Ink. Additional raffle tickets are available at 25 cents each for gift baskets filled with merchandise from various vendors. Proceeds of this raffle will go the Pima Butte Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) to help provide supplies for the school.

The public is also encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate for the holidays. The schools will give the presents to needy children.

“All the vendors have been really wonderful,” explained Segarra. “They contribute a lot to Maricopa with their products and services. I’m already looking forward to the next Vendor Expo in March.”

Segarra is also currently planning and coordinating an Arts and Crafts Show for December 3, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Pima Butte.
