The sun tries to peak through a high pollution day that expects to get close to 100.

A sunny and warm weekend is trending toward a mild week of weather for Maricopa, according to the National Weather Service.

Today, however, will be hot with a high near 99 degrees F as teachers rally at the state capitol. Continuing through the day is an air-quality warning of ozone pollution. The night will be partly cloudy, with a low around 65.

Friday, the forecast is for a sunny day with a high near 98 and a mostly clear night with a low around 65.

Saturday is expected to be sunny, with a high near 97 and winds increasing to 10-15 mph with gusts up to 20 mph. The nighttime low will be around 59 as the breezes continue.

Sunday also looks to be sunny, but with the high dropping to 92. The overnight low will most likely be around 58 under mostly clear skies.

The temperatures are expected to drop even more going into next week, with daily highs expected in the mid-80s while breezy conditions continue.
