Marla Lewis has submitted her resignation as president and CEO of the Maricopa Chamber of Commerce effective immediately.

Board of Directors met this morning and agreed on terms of separation.

Board Chair Suzie Miller said the decision was Lewis’s and she did not have information about her future prospects. According to a statement from the board, Lewis expressed a desire to pursue other opportunities.

“Lewis has been an asset not only to the Chamber but to the community as a whole,” the board stated in an announcement. “We have a strong and relevant chamber that has become an essential partner in all aspects of the community.”

Miller said they are early in the process of finding a replacement executive director. Lewis had been CEO since May 2013.
