Maricopa Community Library launches summer reading program

The Maricopa Community Library will explore dragons, dreams and daring deeds through programs, books and activities this summer. The 2005 Summer Reading Program is for young people, preschool age through young adult, with programs, prizes, story hours, a teen Reading Café and more. The Summer Reading Program will be offered on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday starting the week of June 6 and ending the week of July 11. A variety of programs will be offered for all ages:

Ages 2 to 4 will have story time from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and then participate in crafts and social time from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Activities include various art projects focusing on dragons, dreams and daring deeds! Program dates are June 7, June 14, June 21, June 28, July 5 and July 12

Tuesdays:

Tuesdays: Ages 5 to 7 will have story time from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and then participate in crafts and social time from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Activities include various art projects focusing on dragons, dreams and daring deeds! Program dates are June 7, June 14, June 21, June 28, July 5 and July 12

Wednesdays: Ages 13 and up will participate in the newly created Reader’s Café from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and then participate in a social hour from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Activities include poster making, themed parties and refreshments. Program dates are June 8, June 15, June 22, June 29, July 6 and July 12.

Thursdays: Ages 8 to 12 will have reader’s theater from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and then participate in crafts and social time from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Activities include various art projects focusing on dragons, dreams and daring deeds! Program dates are June 9, June 16, June 23, June 30, July 7 and July 13.

The City of Maricopa has partnered with El Dorado Holdings for a new an exciting program called “Going to Bat for Books.” Area children will have a chance to read multiple books which will add up to a home run. The first 35 kids to read home runs this summer will receive a pair of tickets to a Diamondbacks game.
