Police nab Rancho El Dorado cell phone robber

Saturday evening, at approximately 10:15 p.m., city of Maricopa Police officers responded to an armed robbery call in the area of Backus Road and Rancho El Dorado Parkway.

The victim, walking in the area of Rancho El Dorado Parkway, was approached by a black male subject, an individual known to him. This individual, who was on a bicycle, requested the use of the victim’s cell phone. The victim handed over his cell phone for the suspect to use.

The suspect brandished a handgun, pointed it in the victim’s direction, took the cell phone and fled the scene.

Investigating officers were able to gather information on the armed robbery suspect and located him.

Dominique Alexander Johnson, 20, was taken into custody without incident at his residence on W. Sunland Drive. He was transported to the Pinal County Jail, booked and charged with robbery.

During the course of the preliminary investigation, a second suspect was booked into Pinal County jail and charged with possession of stolen property. Jaques Patton, 19, had the victim’s cell phone; he was taken into custody in the area of W. Bedford Drive.
