Maricopa Arts Council hosted the All-Maricopa Poetry Slam Friday night at Maricopa Public Library. Residents presented their verse before an audience, and judges chose winners on a point system. The top two finishers earned a place in the All-State Slam to be held in January. The winner was Alex Hurley, a student at Maricopa High School. The event was hosted by Bernard “The Klute” Schober.
