“This is a very important date since this is the 60th anniversary of Maricopa High School,” Student Body President Cierra Reynolds said.

The committee, comprised of students, staff, parents and community members, will host “Ram Fest” at the Copper Sky Regional Park on Oct. 21 from 5 to 7 p.m.

“There will be a walking parade at some point during the festival with the football team, band, homecoming court and cheerleaders,” MHS Resource Officer Chris Evans said. “Anybody else who wants to join can join in. The whole thing will go from the south end of the parking lot from the dog park to the baseball field.”

Participants in “Ram Fest” can enjoy food from local vendors and join in honoring the school’s 60-year history. Festival coordinators are hoping attendees will stick around after the festival for the alumni game at 7 p.m. After the game, the football team is expected to lead the walking parade to the bonfire for the lighting ceremony.

“[Everyone] should come out and support MHS because as a united community we should all come together and support the city,” Senior Class President Christeana Lorayes said.

The Homecoming Week festivities kick off Oct. 17 with a laser tag tournament at UltraStar Multi-tainment Center. Oct. 19 there will be a junior class vs. senior class Powder Puff football game at Rams Stadium. UltraStar will screen “Friday Night Lights” Oct. 20. The Homecoming Committee will host “Ram Fest” Oct. 21, and on Oct. 22 the faculty will challenge the student body in a Mud Run at Copper Sky.

The week will culminate in a pre-game tailgate by Rams Stadium prior to the football game. Alumni will have a reception in the gymnasium, and the student body is planning to tailgate in the parking lot.

The MHS Rams will host the Vista Grande High School Spartans at 7 p.m. for the Homecoming Game. Alumni will be welcomed to the Elements Event Center at Ak-Chin Circle for a post-game celebration.
