Maricopa High School’s tennis team was unable to nab a single victory against Antelope last week, losing all six of its matches.
In the singles matches Alex Busihan and Kevin Ngai both lost in two sets. The two also lost their doubles match 8-1.
For the girls, Jenny Ly and Kayla Kasten also lost in two sets and were defeated 8-3 in their doubles match.
It’s all in keeping with expectations, however, because at the beginning of the season Head Coach Paul Olson said this year’s focus would be on learning the fundamentals of the game and not necessarily winning matches. The team is still working with tennis pro Marvin Jensen to master the skills needed to win.
The Rams face Estrella Foothills at Buckeye High School on Tuesday.
