Aldo Espinoza-Delgado, 20, of Maricopa, and a 16-year-old juvenile were arrested by the Maricopa Police Department this morning after they were accused of assaulting two other men.

Delgado was charged with assault and minor consumption of alcohol, and the juvenile was charged with assault, resisting arrest, criminal damage to property, possession of drug paraphernalia and minor consumption of alcohol.

At approximately 6:20 a.m., two men, ages 63 and 46, were sitting outside a residence in the 19000 block of North Pershing Street near the Rotary Pool when two younger men approached them requesting a glass of water, according to MPD.

One of the older men entered the residence to get water. Upon exiting the residence, he observed one of the suspects striking his friend repeatedly on and around the head. At that time, the second suspect struck the second alleged victim once in the head. Both suspects then fled the area on foot south on Pershing Street.

The 63-year-old sustained visible bruising on his head and face and refused medical attention at the scene. The 46-year-old did not sustain any visible injuries during the assault. Both victims explained to investigating officers that they did not know the suspects but knew where they lived, according to the report.

Investigating officers checked the area of the 44000 block of West Maricopa Avenue and upon approaching a residence believed to be occupied by one or both suspects observed one of them attempting to flee the residence through a back door.

The fleeing juvenile resisted apprehension and was subdued with a taser. He did not sustain any visible injury during apprehension and was transported to Chandler Regional Hospital as a precaution. Delgado was taken into custody without incident. Both Delgado and the juvenile were positively identified by the victims.
