MPD reports shooting, possible armed robbery

Maricopa Police today reported an incident involving a shooting and another in which two men claimed they were robbed at gunpoint.

There were no arrests made in either of the incidents and investigations are ongoing, according to MPD.

Police were called to the 43000 block of West Cahill Drive at about 2 a.m. today in reference to a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found a woman lying in the street with a shotgun wound to her torso. The officers detained two men of interest and the woman was transported to a hospital in Phoenix. She sustained nonlife-threatening injuries and did not require surgery.

There are no outstanding suspects at this time incident does appear to stem from a domestic violence dispute, according to MPD.

In another incident, two men contacted MPD yesterday around 3:15 p.m. claiming they had been robbed at gunpoint while visiting a residence in the city. The report did not state the location of the residence, but the men were apparently within walking distance of police headquarters at 45145 W. Madison Ave.

The men said after being invited to the residence, the other men took their car keys, phone and car.

The alleged victims then left the residence and walked to the police department. Within an hour of the report, the victim’s car was found abandoned.

Further investigation revealed the alleged victims had been at the house to purchase an unknown quantity of drugs. The investigation has been turned over to the Pinal County Drug Task Force.
