MPD to host Citizen Police Academy

The City of Maricopa Public Safety Department is pleased to announce the 3rd Citizen Police Academy. The 2017 Citizen Police Academy will offer hands-on experience in various aspects and roles within the agency. The Academy also provides an opportunity to individuals to network and be introduced to members of the department. Selection is a first come basis and will require a background check for acceptance. The ten (10) week course begins Tuesday, Feb. 7 with the final class on April 11, 2017. Classes will be held every Tuesday night from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and will be held a the Maricopa Police Department Copper Sky Substation located at 17985 N. Greythorne Dr. Space is limited and the class is only open to 25 participants. During the ten (10) week course, the following areas of the Department may be covered:

Recruitment     Communications/Dispatch     Police Operations     Specialty Assignments
Defensive Tactics     Traffic Enforcement     Fitness & Nutrition     Records
Interoperability     Criminal Investigations     Property & Evidence     Street Crimes
Use of Force     Policies and Procedures     Internal Investigations     Patrol Techniques

Eligibility

19 years of age
Reside in or be employed in the City of Maricopa
No prior felony arrests
No misdemeanor arrests within one year of application.
