A message published to the Maricopa Unified School District’s web page stated it will remain closed May 2.

Wednesday will mark the fifth day of closures as teachers and support staff continue statewide walkouts.

MUSD hinted teachers and children may be back in the classroom soon, however.

“We are happy to report that progress is being made at the legislature and we are hopeful to reopen on Thursday, May 3,” according to the message.

Sequoia Pathway Campus Director Alfonso Alva said the charter school will re-open Wednesday.

This is a developing story.
