Grace Gomez, president of the Optimist Club of Maricopa, said the response has been “really good.” As of Saturday morning, the collections included three $50 donations.

The money and supplies raised will be distributed through the Salvation Army and will stay in Maricopa. “The city will be accepting evacuees so we need as much help as possible,” Gomez pleaded. “It’s like a jigsaw puzzle, with everyone together we can make a beautiful picture.”
