A San Tan Valley man has been arrested for aggravated DUI and aggravated assault on a law officer after he rear-ended an on-duty Pinal County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputy, causing injury to the officer.

Just before 1:30 a.m. this morning, a PCSO deputy was stopped at a red light in his patrol vehicle at Hunt Highway and Gary Road near Queen Creek, according to PCSO. A vehicle driven by Dylan Fann, 29, of San Tan Valley, collided into the rear of the stopped PCSO vehicle.

The PCSO deputy was able to exit his vehicle to check on Fann’s condition. After it was determined Fann was not injured, the deputy discovered Fann was driving with a suspended license and had a warrant for his arrest for failure to appear in court on charges of driving with a suspended license on Nov. 29.

Fann also showed obvious signs of alcohol impairment. He refused to submit to field sobriety tests at the scene. He was placed under arrest for Aggravated DUI.

Fann refused to submit to a chemical test to determine his blood-alcohol concentration. A search warrant was obtained from a local magistrate to take a blood sample from Fann.
