Woman found dead in desert near Stanfield

Pinal County Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating the death of an unidentified woman, who was found in the desert north of Stanfield Road and Highway 84 on Wednesday morning.

The cause and manner of death was not apparent to investigating officers and the victim had no identification. PCSO is calling the circumstances suspicious but is not releasing details.

Just after 7 a.m., PCSO was notified by a resident that a dead body was found on his property in Stanfield.

Deputies located the body in a desert area under low shrubs. The victim had apparently died days before discovery. Deputies were not immediately able to determine how the victim died. She was clothed but had no identification or signs of trauma. She appeared to be Native American or Hispanic, and possibly in her late 30s.
