Pinal County Attorney awards RICO funds

Maricopa High School and Against Abuse Inc. are among the beneficiaries of the first RICO cycle of 2015.

The Pinal County Attorney’s Office and County Attorney Lando Voyles dispersed $55,500 in Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) funds to 18 county-wide organizations.

Other organizations awarded were the American Legion Fred A. Humphreys Post 8, Boys and Girls Club of Casa Grande, Casa Grande Elementary School District, Central Arizona College Foundation, Coolidge Police Department, Coolidge Youth Coalition, Florence High School, Florence Little League, Hope Women’s Center, Mammoth Christian Youth Center, Pinal County Juvenile Court Community Advisory Board, Pinal Hispanic Council, San Tan Valley Think Tank, Teen Challenge of Arizona, the Town of Superior and CORR.

Organizations apply for RICO funding during two cycles throughout the year. They use the money to supplement funding of substance abuse prevention programs and community education and awareness programs. Local law enforcement partners also apply for funds to help with trainings and equipment for their departments.
