The bicyclist killed after being struck by a vehicle on State Route 238 last week has been identified as Richard L. Vaughn.
According to Maricopa Police Department, Vaughn was riding his bike east along the roadway near Ak-Chin Southern Dunes, where he was employed, at around 4:30 a.m. Thursday. A vehicle also heading east collided with Vaughn, 47. The driver called 911 to report the incident.
MPD spokesman Ricardo Alvarado said the driver was questioned and a blood sample sent to the lab to determine if he was under the influence. There has been no report of results.
