Rain may interrupt late-September heat wave in Maricopa

Maricopa’s triple-digit heat wave may be broken, at least temporarily, midweek with a high chance for precipitation being predicted by the National Weather Service.

Today is sunny with an expected high of 107 degrees F and light winds. Tonight will be mostly clearn with a low around 81.

Tuesday is forecast to be sunny with a high near 106. The evening is expected to partly cloudy with a low around 80.

Wednesday there is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms during the day, mainly after 11 a.m., with less than a 10th of an inch predicted. The high may be near 98. Overnight, the chance of rain is 40 percent with an expected low of 75.

Thursday, the chance for precipitation lingers at 20 percent during the day, which may be mostly sunny with a high near 95. Overnight the chance for rain increases to 30 percent and the low will be around 73.

Friday also has a slight chance of rain that will continue until around 11 p.m. The day will be mostly sunny with a high near 96 while the night is partly cloudy with a low around 74.

The weekend will then begin to warm back into triple digits.
