Despite a good effort, the Maricopa Rams varsity football team was unable to come away with a victory in Eloy Friday night.

The Rams lost to the Dust Devils by the final score of 35-7.

“I am very proud of how hard our team fought through the night,” said Rams head coach Tyler Brandt.

Brandt’s team was unable to muster any points until a 25-yard bootleg run in the final quarter.

“We had several drives that were killed by key drops on third downs,” Brandt said.

Besides the dropped balls, the Rams offense gave the ball away twice; however, the defense for the Rams forced two turnovers.

All but seven of the Dust Devils’ points came on the ground.

“We were just not able to shut down their ground attack,” Brandt said.

Rams standouts for the game were Vince Bailey on offense, who not only had several key catches and runs but helped on special teams also. On defense Vince Davis stood out, leading the team with 13 tackles.

“I think we are continuing to improve, and we look forward to our next game,” Brandt said.
