Three rural farm roads are still closed due to flooding.

The intersection of Hartman Road and Farrell Road, Farrell Road east of White and Parker Road and Murphy Road north of Honeycutt Road are all dirt roads barricaded by the City of Maricopa since Monday.

Although monsoon storms dissipated Monday evening, Maricopa typically experiences flooding days after rainy weather leaves the area.

“Our flood waters are dependent not so much on the rain we get, but on the runoff from people south of us,” said Bill Fay, Public Works director with the City of Maricopa.

Fay said maneuvering vehicles around barricades is not advised.

“It’s not only illegal, it’s typically imprudent,” he said.

Paved roads that reopened Wednesday morning were Porter Road north of Farrell Road and Rancho El Dorado Parkway at the Santa Rosa wash crossings.
