What organizers estimated was the largest attendance yet at Maricopa’s Salsa Festival voted past champion Crazy Cranberry Salsa the best overall entry in Saturday’s event. The salsa celebration at Copper Sky Regional Park featured lots of salsa but many other vendors as well, with entertainment of music and dancing, and a kids play zone. Ricardo Martinez won the hot chile eating contest. Two Hot Mamas won best hot salsa, Santa Cruz Coyotes won best mild salsa, and Crazy Cranberry won best unusual salsa. Hay Salsa Lovers was the Judges Choice award winner, and Los Muertos won the best booth award after also placing high in the hot and mild contests.
