It is my privilege to announce that Christian Price, mayor of the City of Maricopa, has joined a growing list of leaders to endorse my candidacy for re-election as your Pinal County Supervisor. Regarding my campaign for county supervisor, Mayor Price said, “Supervisor Anthony Smith has been a trusted partner for finding solutions to some of Maricopa’s most difficult problems and the person that I want to work with for another four years.”

Mayor Price and I have partnered in several ways to propel the City of Maricopa and other communities within the county into an era of sustainable growth well into the 21st century. From the day Mayor Price and I assumed our respective offices, we have worked together on critical road projects including the SR347 grade separation project, laying a path forward for the widening of SR347 from four lanes to six lanes and promoting a route south of Maricopa as the preferred location for the future Interstate 11.

In addition to these important road projects, it has been my pleasure to work with city leadership to solve chronic flooding problems. For decades, flooding has been a threat to the citizens of Maricopa. With hundreds of acres of prime real estate in the floodplain, it has been one of the limiting factors for job growth within the city and must be eliminated. As members of the Lower Santa Cruz River Alliance, the City of Maricopa, myself, and others are working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for flooding solutions that protect our homes and bring hundreds of acres of real estate out of the flood plain making it available for industrial building sites; which in turn creates local jobs.

Relationships are important. Whether the issue is improving our congested roadways, working together to establish a vibrant job market or clearing roadblocks that hamper sustainable growth, I’ll continue to be the trusted partner that Maricopa and neighboring communities can count on.
