Donald Grace (left) of Maricopa High School and Derrick Gray of Apollo High School (pictured with Maricopa Mayor Christian Price) are among four senior nominated for Black History Month scholarships to be funded by events like Spring Break Dance.

Friday from 6 to 11 p.m., local rapper Sincere D.I.B. (Zelmer Hagler) will host a Spring Break Dance at Maricopa High School.

The ticket price is $10 and will also include live performances by Sincere D.I.B and other local musicians that support the endeavors of the students in the local community.

A portion of the evening’s proceeds will go to scholarship funds for the graduating seniors honored during Black History Month for their outstanding achievements.

“We just want to show we appreciate what they’re doing and their work hasn’t gone unnoticed,” Hagler said. “We want to continue to encourage them to go farther and just let them know they have mentors and different people here to help them.”

Hagler’s Doing It Big Entertainment will host more events this year for the youth.

The Spring Break Dance will be in the MPR room at the high school.
