Ms. Airheart manages a number of noteworthy tasks such as marketing the community to retailers and employers, the business retention and expansion program, shop local and the Maricopa Advocate Program. Denyse takes pride in serving as a liaison to the business community, citizen committees, non-profit organizations, special interest groups and neighborhoods by proactively providing information specific to the City’s economic development department.

PinalCountyLogoA planning team comprised of representatives from Pinal County, Apache Junction, Casa Grande, Coolidge, Eloy, Florence, Kearny, Mammoth, Maricopa, Superior and other stakeholders is reviewing and updating the existing 2010 Pinal County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan. The current 2010 Pinal County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan (Plan) is available for review and comment. Public input on the current Plan is important and residents are encouraged to review the PLAN and offer comments. The final DRAFT of the updated 2015 plan will be made available for review and comment in August 2015.

The City of Maricopa received the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for fiscal year 2014/15. The award reflects the commitment of City Council and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. In order to receive the budget award the City had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves as:

  • a policy document
  • a financial plan
  • an operations guide
  • a communication device

Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories, and fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award.

On Friday, June 19th from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. drop off your children at Copper Sky for a night of fun while you get to enjoy a night out. Your kids will go swimming, watch a movie and enjoy a snack with Copper Sky Youth Programs Staff. The event is for children ages 5 ½ to 12 years old.

20150610 scopesCongratulations to Hobbyscopes.com, LLC owner Todd Clark, our latest Revolving Loan Program recipient. The Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) is a program jointly provided by the Maricopa Center for Entrepreneurship (MCE) and the City of Maricopa.

Through the RLF program, eligible businesses that have been turned down for conventional business funding can apply to receive low-interests loans. The loan amounts vary from $2,500 to $25,000. Applications need to show a sound business plan and that the business has a firm management structure in place. Businesses must be located within in Maricopa or the Ak-Chin Indian Community.

The nation’s top water safety and training organizations are joining forces to present The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™ to build awareness about the vital importance of teaching children to swim to help prevent drowning. On June 18th, waterparks, pools and other aquatic facilities around the globe will host local lessons at 10 a.m. in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record.

usslibertyhonoredMayor Christian Price officially recognized the patriotism of all the Veterans who served on the USS Liberty with a proclamation. 34 Americans died and more than 170 were wounded when the USS Liberty was attacked on June 8, 1967. “Now chronicled in our history, it is a day that will never be forgotten. On that day, the Liberty’s crew responded valiantly,” said Mayor Price.

bighero6 200wBig Hero 6 will be shown at Copper Sky Regional Park this Friday, June 5th as part of the Movies in the Park series. The free series takes place Friday nights (bi-weekly) at Copper Sky Park located at 44345 W Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in May and June. Movies are shown on a giant inflatable screen under the stars and start when it gets dark, usually between 6:30-7:00 p.m. Grab a blanket or lawn chair and bring a picnic dinner or enjoy snacks from local concessions. If it rains or if it’s too windy, the movie will be moved inside to the gym.
